Playing with a photo…

Sometimes I like to play with a photo to see what kinds of looks I can get with it. Sometimes a photo looks really great in bright colors, others look better in B&W, while some just need something different done to them. Here is a recent photo of G. This is what it looked like straight out of my camera –

There's nothing really wrong with the photo, but it's not spectacular either. I, as her mom, do like that she is smiling (even if it is her fake smile) and how the sun is reflecting in her eyes.

Here's the same photo, but with the colors popped a little –

I really like how the green grass in background and her blue eyes stand out. The color pop even brings out the natural highlights in her hair more. Her freckles pop out a little more too.

Next I decided to see how it looks in B&W –

I like how this looks and how it brings out the different dimensions to her hair, but I lost some of her freckles in the conversion.

This play gives the photo a more vintage look, especially with the added texture to the background –

I love the sunkissed look her face has and the extra glow that the texture gave to her hair. The only thing I don't like is that the vintage look takes away her bright blue eyes.

Each look has it advantages. It just depends on which look you are going for.

Here they all are side by side (you can click on the photo to see it larger, if you need to) –

I just had to check out your pics today. I especially like the second one under July 15. Probably most natural pose. Sure enjoyed the phone call this morning from the 2 of them on their way to school. Made my b-day start off perfectly.
