When talking to the mom of this family, she really wanted to do their fall session in an area that had old brick or stone buildings. While I was looking close to home for a location that would work, I came across an old church that I had forgotten about. I love the old, brick, run down look of this 1800s church. It was also a nice surprise to find a location with a little bit of hidden fall color in the vines and grasses, yet it doesn’t have a traditional fall look.

Like a lot of us (myself included), the goal for this family’s session was to have an updated family photo. We had a gorgeous evening for their session and a little bit of fall color was already starting to show.

For our session, we met on a gorgeous October morning. I couldn’t have asked for better weather for my fall sessions – the temperatures were nice and the rain either quickly ended long before the session started or held off for a few hours. Between this session and the session that I shared earlier this week, I think I have found some great spots for photos in this area! I loved the run down brick building with the porch area, the bright green accents and rustic staircases that we found. My only complaint about the area is that the buildings, or maybe it’s just the bricks, have settled and aren’t level! So if you notice that the bricks are level and the ground isn’t, or vice versa, that is why. 🙂

I have known this family for a couple of years. Our youngest daughters happened to be in the same kindergarten classroom and while talking at a classroom party, we realized that we live in the same neighborhood. During one our conversations, we found out that both of us moms have a love of photography and we soon found ourselves being able to have a conversation that didn’t include talking about our daughters. 🙂 We both loved the idea of taking their family photos in an area with lots of different backgrounds. I knew of an area, but hadn’t really explored the area much. Thankfully the weather was nice for a late October morning and they were patient enough to explore the area with me.
