Kauffman Gardens | Kansas City Area Child Photographer

I have seen several different photos of Kauffman Gardens, but had never visited. The garden area always looks so beautiful and peaceful. So when I had a client asking for some different ideas for their upcoming photo session, it was one of the locations that I had mentioned to her. When she seemed interested in having her family session there, that was all the motivation I needed to load my family up in the minivan and take a quick trip there to check it out. I think I was the only one in my family excited about the outing. šŸ™‚ While I did end up with several silly photos, I actually ended up with several photos from there that I really like. Now I just have to figure out which ones I want to print big and hang up on my walls.

Rathbun Lake

We had checked out Honey Creek Resort State Park this past winter while attending their waterpark with some friends. We thought it looked like a nice area with a few feet of snow on the ground, so we went back this summer to camp. It was an unseasonably cool Memorial Day weekend, but we had …

Flashback Friday

Instead of a “Five on Friday”, I thought I would post a photo that I haven’t shared on here. Miss G just before entering middle school. She also had just had a birthday not long before this and I asked if she would sit on my newly painted chair (it was dry šŸ™‚ ) so …

The Grand Tetons

Just wanted to share a photo from our summer vacation – A little story behind the photo – we had left West Yellowstone bright and early that morning in hopes of not having to deal with too much stop and go traveling. The great part about this? We made it through Yellowstone before most of …

Five on Friday

Some blogs have a “Ten on Tuesday/Thursday”, “Wordless Wednesday” or a “Five on Friday” or just random thoughts/photos about the week. Since I need to get in the habit of doing something regularly on here (is anyone still reading this blog??), I thought I would try posting five things every Friday. Let’s see how long I can keep this up. šŸ™‚

Yellowstone

We did not allow enough time to see everything at Yellowstone. We had picked the weekend of July 4th for our visit, as did several thousand other people. šŸ™‚ We spent two full days and, unfortunately, were only able to see the southern loop. Here are just a few of my favorites from there. Near …

Tuesday Night

Late Tuesday afternoon, strong thunderstorms moved through here.  While I don't really enjoy the wind and pounding rain that comes with the thunderstorms, I do enjoy watching the sun set through all of the clouds.  In one direction, the sky was so pink! I wish I had had a wider lens though – we could …

Our 2010 Summer Vaction

We decided to take a two week trip to Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone this summer. Tracy and I were excited about the trip – I had taken a similar trip with my grandparents when I was about 9 and Tracy had never been to either place. Both of the girls were interested in seeing all …

He finally did it!

My husband has been talking about running a marathon for the past few years. He has looked into various marathons, he's even gotten to the point of requesting more info about a couple of them, but until this week he has never committed himself to actually participating in one. He has also been wanting to …

How I spent my day…

The morning was spent watching Miss M play soccer. She has improved so much since last year! She's even taken a few hits to the stomach and kept on playing, which is a huge thing for her. In the past this would have caused her to ask to come out of the game and she …
